Orange You Loving This Hot Summer Hue?

From coral to peach, from mandarin to salmon, I have found myself magnetically drawn to all things orange in my wardrobe, accessories, makeup and nail polish this summer.  Tangerine Tango was the Pantone Color of the Year for 2012, but the momentum has by no means slowed down.

When the sun comes out and temperatures rise, peach and coral shades help to bring a healthy fresh glow to sun-kissed skin.  Orange is everywhere I seem to look!  From avante-garde runway looks, to editorial publications, to wearable red carpet glamour, shades of orange have become welcome alternatives to pinks and reds.

On June 6, our friends at MAC released a limited edition collection All About Orange featuring 8 gorgeous lipsticks, 3 blushes, 3 Creamsheen Lip Glasses and a eye shadow quad called Rainy Season that complements the juicy tones beautifully!  Check out the entire All About Orange line of products photographed by fellow beauty blogger, Karen of Makeup and Beauty Blog.

After seeing these beautiful hues created by MAC, I was inspired to create a few makeup looks of my own featuring a Dollface favorite, TEMPTU AIRpods.  To create the fresh monochromatic daytime look that I did on my model Maricela, I let the Clementine AIRpod shine!

For her eyes, I applied Clementine blush on her lids, then used a taupe matte shadow on her crease to create dimension; then I applied Champagne highlighter to the inner corner of her eyes for a pop of brightness.  Her cheeks are Clementine blush and Champagne highlighter.  And on her lips, I applied the Clementine blush by spraying the product onto a cosmetic wedge and patted it onto her lips.  I followed up with a red/orange lip liner I found at Big Lots and topped it all off with clear gloss.  Doesn’t she look stunning?!

For a more evening look, I created a smoky eye using Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow in #15 all over the lid and on the lower lash line. Then I brought in a bit of orange by layering Clementine blush over it the cream shadow by spraying the product on a sponge.  Finally, I added bit of dark brown matte shadow in my crease.  Like the daytime look, I applied – you guessed it – Clementine blush on my cheeks.  And on my lips I am wearing Sunflower by NYX.

Although this color family can be intimidating at first glance, I can assure you that there is a shade out there to compliment every skin tone.  Those with blue eyes will find that oranges will make your baby blues POP!  If your skin has a naturally red undertone or if you suffer from rosacea, I encourage you to use coral blushes to bring a beautiful natural flush to your face without accentuating redness.  So go out there and be bold… you’ll be glad you did!

Xoxo,

Melissa
