The Nitty Gritty on Cleansers

You may know that I’m a makeup artist, but most of you don’t know that I have eczema on my face.  Now, those two things don’t mix well!  I have to be extremely careful with what I use to on my face in every way. Since eczema can cause dry spots on my oily skin, finding the perfect product can be difficult.  Here are my favorites and what they do for my skin:

Ultra Bland from Lush- I’ve been blogging about this product for YEARS! This is a rich, thick, heavy duty cleanser + makeup remover that can even remove magic marker(!).  It is all natural & leaves your skin feeling super soft after the essential oils and rosewater work their magic on your skin.  I use this for full makeup days.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser (used w/ Clarisonic)- This product over time really does a great job.  At first I didn’t feel as if it was really cleaning my skin, so I added my Clarisonic.  Side Note: I’ve used my Clarisonic with different cleansers, but I really liked the overall look of my skin when using Aveeno.  It does the job without making your skin feel dry or over cleansed.  I use this daily.

Garnier Ultimate Cleanser, 3 Way Clean- You can use this as a cleanser, exfoliator, & mask.  Now this will give you the squeaky clean feel!  If my skin were more oily, I’m sure I would use this daily.  I’ve been enjoying for an extra clean boost a few times a week.

Oils can also be a great cleanser!  Yes, you read that correctly.  Personally, I like adding a Vitamin E cleanse to my beauty routine weekly.   Below is information from The Oil Cleansing Method.  More details can be found on their website, www.theoilcleansingmethod.com.

Do not be afraid of applying oil to your face. Oil, alone, will not bring you blemishes. Pimples, cysts, zits, blackheads, whiteheads…these are a result of several different factors including hormones, bacteria, dead skin cells and the buildup of these factors. Your skin naturally produces oil because it needs it. It is not a malicious force to be reckoned with; it is there for the benefit of your skin, allowing your largest organ to function properly. It is naturally occurring. Not only does your natural oil help lubricate, it also heals, protects, and moisturizes your skin so that it may function properly. Properly functioning skin is beautiful, clear, and glowing. Learning to work with your skin, not against it, will save you tremendously.

Some suggestions in creating your blend of deep cleansing oil:

  • Oily Skin: Try a blend of 30% Castor Oil to 70% Sunflower Seed Oil.
  • Balanced Skin: Try a blend of 20% Castor Oil to 80% Sunflower Seed Oil.
  • Dry Skin: Try a blend of 10% Castor Oil to 90% Sunflower Seed Oil.

And remember to always take your makeup off at night!  Till next time dolls! <3, Jules
